Lakes and Dales Loop
The Lakes and Dales Loop is a recently added waymarked cycle route in Cumbria, taking in the beautiful Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, Morecambe Bay, Lune Valley, the Orton Fells and Eden Valley, and offering cyclists a huge range of landscapes including picturesque rivers, wild coastline and views of England’s highest mountains.
Taking a tour round the high ground of the Lake District, the loop officially starts and finishes in Penrith and is entirely on quiet lanes, passing through the hospitable towns of Cockermouth, Broughton-in-Furness, Grange-Over-Sands, Kirkby Lonsdale and Sedbergh, as well as countless idyllic villages and hamlets nestled in the valleys. Whilst there are none of the infamous passes, there is a total of around 5000 metres of climbing to tackle, via undulating, short and occasionally steep climbs mixed in with some more gentle gradients, as well as rewarding downhill sections.
Included with our Lakes and Dales trips are accommodation, baggage transfer, route notes, vehicle support and daily briefings, with the option of adding bike hire if required. We can also offer a gentler 4-day alternative.
