Richard has led groups of cyclists over many thousands of kilometres in the UK, Europe and Asia, most recently as founder of the One Mile Closer charitable initiative. He is a highly experienced cyclist and qualified Tour Leader, in addition to being a patient communicator and leader, and also brings a wide range of experience from his background as a civil engineer in countries such as Qatar, Kenya, Pakistan or DR Congo. Most at home in the mountains, cycling has been a constant in his life and travels, and he has a passion for sharing the beauty of the road with riders of all ages and abilities. Richard feels very lucky to call Cumbria his home, and can often be found out on the fells.
Amongst a wide range of impressive cycling feats, James was National Geographic Adventurer of the Year in 2008 for his record-breaking 396-day expedition from Pole to Pole, including cycling 11,000 miles from New York to Chile. As well as being a well-known adventurer and TV personality in South Korea, James is a highly experienced, patient and passionate cycle tour leader, also a founding leader of the One Mile Closer charitable initiative. When not cycling, James can be found learning to surf or enjoying his favourite Korean food.
